Firefighters tackled a blaze at a recently opened Asian restaurant in Ilford.

The fire started around 2.45pm today (August 3) at Mr Oriental, which opened on Chapel Road less than a year ago, according to its social media.

Pictures show flames inside the restaurant that damaged the kitchen before they were extinguished soon after 3pm.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Two fire engines from Ilford and Leytonstone fire stations were called to the incident.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “We were called at 1449 today to a report of a fire at a restaurant on Chapel Road in Ilford. 

“Part of the restaurant's kitchen was damaged by fire, which was extinguished by 1509. 

“There were no reports of any injuries. 

“Two fire engines from Ilford and Leytonstone fire stations attended the scene.”
