Around 60 firefighters have tackled a house fire in Chadwell Heath.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) responded to the incident in Gresham Drive at around 6.20pm yesterday evening (August 9) after receiving 25 emergency calls.

The first floor and roof of two semi-detached houses in the road were on fire.

LFB advised people to avoid the area while crews tackled the fire.

The blaze was under control by around 8.20pm and its cause is now under investigation.

Firefighters used a 32-metre ladder at the scene as an observation tower to provide an aerial view of the fire.

Crews from Romford, Hornchurch and Ilford all attended the scene.
