Transport for London (TfL) has revealed which Tube stations in east London could be upgraded soon.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan wants 50 per cent of the stations on the London Underground to be step-free by 2030.

At the moment, 93 Tube station are step-free, which means that a further 43 stations will need to be upgraded in the next five years for this target to be met.

Step-free access stations have lifts so that passengers do not have to use escalators or stairs to move between the street and the platform.

In east London, work is already under way to make Leyton station on the Central line step-free.

Freedom of Information (FoI) data has also revealed a longlist of 30 stations across the capital that could soon be earmarked for similar upgrades.

It is expected that a shortlist of 15 stations will be confirmed in October.

There are a number of east London stations on the longlist, including Hornchurch and Dagenham East.
