Two men have been arrested after a student was stabbed outside their college in Newham.

The police were called to a fight outside Newham Sixth Form College around 3.45pm yesterday (May 12).

A Met spokesperson said that an 18-year old was taken to hospital with potentially life changing stab wounds.

The ambulance service confirmed that it treated two people, one with a leg wound, with one being rushed to hospital “as a priority”.

When contacted for comment, the college understood that two of its students had received minor injuries in the fight, and had since been discharged from hospital.

The police has been contacted for the latest condition of the victims.

Two 18-year-olds have been arrested on suspicion of GBH, and have been taken to custody for questioning while an investigation is underway.

A Met spokesperson said: “Police were called at 15:42hrs on Monday, 12 May following reports of a stabbing outside a school in Newham.

“Officers attended the scene at Prince Regent Lane, E16, where a 18 year-old man had suffered stab wound injuries.

“London Ambulance Service took him to hospital for treatment where his injuries were deemed not to be life-threatening, but may be life-changing.

“Two men, both aged 18 have been arrested on suspicion of GBH, and have been taken to custody for questioning.

“Enquiries are ongoing.

“If you were a witness, or have any information which might help, please call police on 101 with the reference 4802/12May.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.03pm yesterday (12 May) to reports of a stabbing in Prince Regent Lane, Plaistow.

“We sent an ambulance crew and a paramedic in a fast response car to the scene.

“We treated a teenager for leg wounds and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.

“We were then called to another injured person nearby.

“We sent an ambulance crew and a paramedic in a fast response car.

“We treated another teenager and took him to hospital.”

A Newham SIxth Form College spokesperson said: “We are aware of an altercation which took place yesterday between two students.

“I would like to reiterate that we do not tolerate any form of violence and that the wellbeing and safety of our students is paramount.”
