An EastEnders star has opened up about his childhood in Rainham as part of a BBC family history series.
Ross Kemp, who rose to fame in the 1990s after playing Grant Mitchell in EastEnders, featured in the latest episode of the BBC One documentary series Who Do You Think You Are?.
The actor and presenter set out to uncover his family history, revealing that he grew up in Rainham with his parents and younger brother.
His dad was a detective - which he says has given him "the need to find out the truth" - and his mum was a hairdresser and "loved a story".
When he was growing up in the early 1970s, not many people travelled and Kemp said the fact he was able to travel "a lot" with his family had a "massive impact" on his life.

At the start of the episode, Kemp visits his parents and looks through old photos of holidays in Europe and relatives on his mum's side.
He later discovers that his great-grandad grew up in a pub in Portsmouth, and his mum believes his great-great-grandfather was originally from Ireland.
Who Do You Think You Are?, now on its 22nd series, sees celebrities uncover stories from their families' heritage.
Other celebrities featuring on this series include Andrew Garfield, Fred Sirieix and Diane Morgan.
