Developer London Iron Works has revealed that construction works are planned to start on the new Travelodge in Station Road in June.
A spokesperson for the company told the Recorder that in the meantime there has been "lots of compliance and technical work" taking place in the background.
The demolition and site clearance was completed in January, followed by ground investigations and the installation of hoarding.
Plans for the hotel were originally rejected by Havering Council in January 2023 after backlash from the community, but later approved in 2024.
Travelodge has agreed a 25-year lease with London Iron Works, who acquired the site with the aim of delivering a new mixed-use development in Upminster town centre.
The developer has released computer generated images, showing what the hotel might look like from the outside.
Its set to have 82 rooms in total, as well as new retail units on the ground floor.
Daniel Harris, director of London Iron Works, previously told the Recorder that the new hotel will "support the visitor economy in Upminster and bring economic benefits to the borough", something the company is "very proud of".
He later added: "The development is progressing well and we hope that the hotel will open in early 2026."
