Here are six adorable four-legged friends available for adoption in Havering.
The RSPCA has revealed that there has been a 20 per cent increase in animal abandonment in London alone since the cost-of-living crisis began.
With these figures rising, could you offer any of these animals across Havering a home?
Caroline
Caroline loves a cuddle (Image: Wanderers Haven Animal Sanctuary) According to Wanderers Haven Animal Sanctuary, Caroline is the "sweetest dog and absolutely loves people and having a good cuddle".
Apparently, Caroline "loves" some dogs but others "she seriously dislikes".
She can also be shy of traffic and being walked along the road and she very much dislikes busy roads.
"She much prefers quiet walks in fields and parks - or just being carried!"
Caroline wouldn't be suitable for first time dog owners and would be ideal for people used to terriers due to her "comical and cheeky character".
Poppy and Meo
Poppy and Meo would need to be homed with cat-savvy children (Image: Pippa's Army Animal Rescue) These cats are 2.5 years-old and are bonded sisters, meaning they must be re-homed together.
According to Pippa's Army, "Poppy is the more adventurous of the pair and loves spending time exploring the garden" whilst "Meo is more reserved but still a sweetheart".
The pair would need a quiet, adult-only household or a home with older, cat-savvy children.
Access to a garden would be ideal for Poppy to explore, with Meo having the option to join her when she feels comfortable.
Pickle
Pickle's leg was amputated after being involved in a traffic collision (Image: Pippa's Army Animal Rescue) Pickle had to undergo a leg amputation following a traffic accident which also left him with a broken jaw.
Pippa's Army says that despite this, he is coping "amazingly" and is now on a soft pate diet.
He isn’t friendly with other cats, so he’ll need to be the only cat in the home and will need an indoor-only environment.
"He's looking for a nice, relaxed home without small children, though could live with older, cat-savvy ones of around ten years or older."
Cane
Cane is described as a gentle giant (Image: Wanderers Haven Animal Sanctuary) "Gentle giant", Cane is an approximately six or seven-year-old German shepherd cross breed.
Cane is looking for a home with no cats or young children but would be fine with teenagers, according to Wanderers Haven Animal Sanctuary.
Cane can be "extremely strong on lead", especially when he is anxious and unsure of his surroundings.
With limited history on Cane, the sanctuary is also unsure of his behaviour when left home alone. This may be something he has to "gradually get used to".
Black Pearl and Short Stuff
Black Pearl recently lost an eye but has apparently fully healed (Image: Pippa's Army Animal Rescue) Black Pearl and Short Stuff are a mother and daughter duo who are looking for a new home since their previous elderly owner passed away, Pippa's Army say.
Black Pearl recently lost an eye due to an injury, but apparently she's "fully healed and doesn’t let it slow her down.
"This friendly pair will need a bit of time to adjust, but with patience, they’ll soon warm up to be lap cats who love a good cuddle."
They’re looking for a "quiet, adult-only home with someone who can spend quality time with them and isn’t out for long periods each day".
Lily and Leon
Lily and Leon are a bonded brother and sister duo (Image: Pippa's Army Animal Rescue) Bonded brother and sister duo, Lily and Leon are looking for a home at less than one-year-old.
Lilly often follows her brother's lead, as Leon is the "more outgoing and adventurous of the pair".
Pippa's Army say: "Though they may be shy and a little skittish around new people, with a little time and patience, they’ll settle into a loving home and truly flourish".
The pair will require a home without young children and with a safe outdoor space to grow and learn.
