A person is fighting for their life after an incident at Upminster station.

Police were called to the railway station today (February 20) just before 8am to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

At the scene, a person was found with serious injuries and was taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

The British Transport Police (BTP) says this incident is not thought to be suspicious.

Train services across the whole c2c network are being cancelled or delayed due to the incident, as well as damage to overhead electrical wires.

A BTP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just before 8am today (20 February) at Upminster railway station.

“Officers and paramedics attended, and a person was found with serious injuries and has been taken to hospital with potentially life threatening injuries.

“The incident is not thought to be suspicious.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.53am today (20 February) to reports of a person hit by a train at Upminster Rail Station, RM14.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and members of our hazardous area response team (HART), We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.

“Our first paramedics arrived on scene in approximately three minutes.

“We treated a man and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
