An Italian restaurant in Gidea Park has applied for a pavement licence to serve customers outside.

A licencing application for Gusto BLK in Balgores Lane has been submitted to Havering Council by its owner Fitim Driza.

The family-run restaurant opened to customers at the start of April last year.

If successful, the application for a pavement licence will allow the business to serve food and drink to customers in an outdoor seating area to the front of the premises.

Owners Fitim Driza and Jess Krasniqi converted Gusto from its previous use as Breakfast Lunch & Kitchen Cafe.

The cafe was closed in 2017, with a year-and-a-half turnaround to facilitate the transformation into a restaurant during which time a number of planning applications were put to the council.

These included a failed bid to extend the opening hours.

Fitim told this paper last year that the process was "extremely difficult until the day we opened".
