A shopping centre in Romford has announced changes to customer car parking in their multi-storey car park.

Customers hoping to park at The Mercury Mall will need to be aware of the changes in place starting from tomorrow (February 1).

It comes as parking operator Horizon Parking has taken over oversight of parking at the multi-storey.

The car park with 1,000 spaces on two floors, including disabled and family-friendly spaces, will adopt a Park, Shop and Pay at the start of next month.

This means that upon arrival to the car park, shoppers do not need to do anything until it comes time for them to leave.

The pay stations will accept card, contactless, mobile and cash payment.

Those who prefer to pay by phone can do so under the changes, but must pay upon arrival, the Mercury said.

There are several apps that can be used to pay for parking and extend parking time if needed, including Horizon Spaces, Ring-Go, Your Parking Space, Just Park and MiPermit.

The location code for the car park is 683198, for customers intending on paying by phone.

According to the shopping centre, customers using the car park facilities for Asda will still benefit from the current 'money back' procedure.

Addressing concerns online, they said: "You will get a voucher to scan at the machine or to input into your app to get the discount, instead of it coming off of your till receipt."

They have also confirmed that parking prices will not be hiked with the change of measures.
