For those in Havering who bought a real Christmas tree, there are several ways to recycle it as we move into the new year.
Havering Council has a whole section of its website dedicated to reducing waste over the festive period, and part of this includes the best way to dispose of a real Christmas tree.
If you are a green waste service customer, you can place your tree in your green bin as you would with any other garden waste.
You must, however, ensure the tree is cut in half and the bin lid is closed properly.
It is worth noting that there will be no garden waste collection services for two weeks over Christmas, with scheduled collections returning to normal from January 6.
Real trees can also be taken to Gerpins Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre in Upminster.

The centre will also take plastic Christmas trees, and ask that all decorations be removed before drop-off.
Saint Francis Hospice will also be collecting and recycling real Christmas trees from January 9 until January 12, in return for a donation.
Volunteers will collect trees from across Havering and Brentwood - all you need to do is register and leave your tree where you want it to be collected before 8am on January 6.
The Christmas trees will be chipped after collection and made into biofuel, or reused in other ways.
To find out more information, or to register for their tree collection, call 01708 753319 ext. 3056 or go to www.sfh.org.uk/recycle-your-christmas-tree.
