As 2024 comes to an end, we look back at those jailed for murder in the last 12 months.
Pictured here are the murderers who have been jailed this year for shocking crimes committed in east London, as well as east Londoners jailed for murders committed elsewhere in the UK.
Their victims include a mum who was shot dead through her own front door, a woman who died 13 years after a brutal attack by her ex, and a man who was "butchered" by a rival gang.
Trevor Baker
Carolyn was 34 when she was attacked by Baker in Walmer Close, Romford, in November 2009.
She had left Baker six months before but enraged and unable to accept that the relationship was over, he launched a ferocious attack.
In March, Baker was jailed for life with a minimum term of five years and eight months - reduced due to the time he already spent in prison after admitting attempted murder in 2010.

Zain Mirza, Ayaanle Adan, Chibuike Ohanweh and Mahad Gouled
Armed with guns and knives, they stormed a house in Henley Road, Ilford, and fired a gun at least 45 times.
Mr Sheikh was described as having been “butchered” - he was stabbed 28 times and shot four times.
The attack is said to have been procured by Mirza in revenge for the killing of his brother in 2019.
He was in prison for a drugs offence but set about putting a plan into action after being released while being careful to remain at “arm’s length”.
Chibuike Ohanweh, 21, of Heath Park Road in Romford; Ayaanle Adan, 20, from East Street in Barking; Mahad Gouled, 22, from Charles Street in Enfield; and Zain Mirza, 21, of Third Avenue in Manor Park, were found guilty of murder.
All four were sentenced to life with a minimum term of 38 years in January.
Myglor Yambuya
Yambuya, 17, attacked Renell as he was sitting at a bus stop with friends in Markhouse Road at around 4pm on May 5.
He had approached Renell, who was a Kelmscott student, after jumping out of a taxi, sparking a brief verbal spat.
Yambuya stabbed Renell twice, the second time as the 16-year-old lay defenceless on the ground.
In March, Yambuya, of Libra Road in Plaistow, was convicted of murder and was jailed for life with a minimum term of 20 years.

Toulwalase Odunewu, Michael Tommy-Mbogba and two teens
At 11.45pm Jordan and a friend were parked near the station when four people moved towards their car brandishing machetes.
One of them stabbed Jordan in the chest while he sat in the back seat.
Jordan managed to sprint away and stopped a passing car for help, but he then collapsed on the road and was pronounced dead a short time later.
Four people were jailed for life after being convicted of his murder in October.
Odunewu, 18, of Angel Way in Romford, and Tommy-Mbogba, 21, of Arkwrights in Harlow, Essex, will serve minimum sentences of 23 years and 29 years respectively.
Two teens – aged 16 and 17 – will serve a minimum of 16 years and 23 years respectively.

Awadh Saleh and Rio Burton-Devine
Saleh and Burton-Devine, who set out that day on a ‘rideout’, intent on carrying out the most brutal act of violence against anyone they believed may be linked to rival gangs.
Junior was shot from a car before his killers got out and stabbed him twice.
In June both men were jailed for life for murder.
Saleh, 25, of Chesterton Terrace in Plaistow, was sentenced to a minimum of 36 years, while Burton-Devine, 25, of Burder Close in Hackney, was sentenced to a minimum of 31 years.

David Odunuga
That evening Brian's friends said he went outside to meet Odunuga, a drug dealer, who then stabbed him three times following an argument.
In April Odunuga, 33, of Rollason Way in Brentwood, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 27 years.

Nana Oppong and Israar Shah
On the morning of the murder, as Mr Powell left the party, Oppong, and Shah, were watching from nearby vehicles.
A Ford carrying Oppong pulled up alongside Mr Powell while a gunman got out the car and shot Mr Powell eight times, one shot hitting two women nearby, before fleeing the scene.
Oppong, a high-level drug dealer and organised criminal, fled the country and went on the run after organising and carrying out the execution of Mr Powell.
In May, Oppong, 44, of West Road in Stratford, and Shah, 39, of Kelvedon Hatch near Brentwood, were jailed for life with minimum terms of 38 years and 26 years respectively.

Joshua Alexander
Ms Gordon was the unintended victim of a dispute between two gangs when she was murdered in her home in Vine Close, Hackney, last December.
Alexander was “on a mission" that night to execute members of an opposing gang.
But rather than show remorse, rap lyrics were found in his prison cell in January that were “glorifying” his crimes.
In December, Alexander, 17, of Wellington Road in East Ham, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 29 years.

Abdul Yaro and Kavian Vaughans
Abdul Yaro and Kavian Vaughans murdered 17-year-old Shea Gordon after a birthday party.
They had attacked Shea outside a birthday party in Lichfield Road, Mile End, in September 2022 after planning the killing on Snapchat.
Shea was stabbed in the street before being chased down the street by four men in masks and dressed in black, down nearby Alloway Road and into Morgan Street.
Here, he collapsed and was found by medics who lived nearby suffering from three stab wounds, including a fatal blow to his chest.
Yaro and Vaughans, aged 19 and 18, both from Tottenham, were jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years for murder in January.
Two other men were also jailed for manslaughter.
Melvin Lebaga-Idubor
Lebaga-Idubor, from Barking, stabbed Kwabena in the neck and torso.
He then fled to France before being returned to the UK to face trial, where he was found guilty of murder.
Lebaga-Idubor, 20, was given a life sentence with a minimum term of 21 years.

Jakub Molga
Rafal was asleep when Molga and his accomplice entered the property.
Molga then armed himself with a wooden table leg and beat Rafal then poured boiling water over his feet, whilst his friend filmed the entire thing.
Molga, 26, of Romford Road in Forest Gate, was found guilty of murder and in February he was jailed for life with a minimum term of 22 years.
Jordell Menzies
Odunlami, a music manager from Romford, was set up by a member of security at an exclusive event in the City where he had been celebrating his birthday.
He was wearing a Patek Philippe Nautilus watch which, if real, was worth between £90,000 and £300,000.
A team of robbers attacked him as he left the restaurant including Menzies, who stabbed him.
In February, Menzies, 27, of Tennyson Road in Brent, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 31 years for murder.
Aaron Campbell, Antonio Afflick-McLeod and Mohamed Moshaer Ali
In the days leading up to his murder, Iron’s family described how he had been receiving a series of messages on his phone that were “making him anxious”.
On the night he was attacked, he had just returned home at around 10pm when he received a call from Ali.
He went outside and got in a car, then when he left the car he texted Ali "viewing done".
A gunman then got out of a different car and shot Iron in the head.
Mohamed Moshaer Ali, 31, of Western Avenue in Dagenham, Antonio Afflick-McLeod, 32, of Mayfair Avenue in Ilford; and Aaron Campbell, 32 of Star Road in Fulham, were all found guilty of his murder in January.
Ali will serve a minimum term of 36 years, Afflick-McLeod will serve at least 34 years and Campbell will serve at least 31 years.

Tyrese Barnett
Tyler died on April 14 last year, the day after he was shot in the head then stabbed with a machete while he was on the floor outside the studio in Tottenham.
Tensions had risen in the music studio earlier that day when one of the defendants became upset at being filmed.
As Tyler and a friend left the studio early in the morning Barnett shot Tyler and while another man struck him with a large machete when he was already lying on the floor with gunshot injuries.
In November, Barnett, 20, of Moyers Road in Newham, was jailed for life with minimum terms of 30 years for murder.
Three other men from north and south London were also jailed for murder.
