Offices for a plumbing and heating body have been proposed to be turned into homes in Hornchurch.

A planning application was sent to Havering Council on February 27 by Haverbridge Homes Ltd to convert an existing office building and build a new two-storey building to provide eight apartments in Station Lane.

The proposal includes private and communal amenity spaces, onsite parking and new boundary wall and cycle and bin storage.

The units will be split into one three-bedroom, six two-bedroom and one one-bedroom homes.

The site is currently occupied by the offices for the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering.

A design statement attached with the application states that the existing building was constructed in 1901 and retains its original character externally.

The developer has offered to add a single storey rear extension to provide four apartments in the existing structure.

The current entrance to the building, the statement said, is to be used to provide access to the communal stairs and entrances to units one and two, and to the garden and cycle storage.

A detached building is planned to be built to the west boundary that will contain the remaining four two-bedroom apartments.

The statement said: “The proposal will provide a high-quality residential accommodation to help meet the council’s housing delivery targets."

A decision on the application is expected to be made by April 24. Detailed documents for the application can be found on council’s website using reference P0284.24.
