Emergency services attended and Essex Police said they left the woman in the care of health professionals, as it appeared to be a mental health-related incident.

National Highways shared on X, formerly Twitter, that traffic was temporarily stopped between the two junctions while Essex Police worked at the scene.

Delays of at least 20 minutes were reported on approach but the road was later reopened.
