Many households have awoken to no power after an unexpected power cut in the morning.

The cut was first reported In Rainham at the RM13 9 postcode today (February 12) at around 5.27am.

Hours later and power is still yet to be restored as engineers work to locate and fix an underground cable fault in the Anchor Drive area.

Engineers were first on site shortly after the issue was first reported, but it was established that a digging crew was needed to access the underground cable.

At the moment, UK Power Networks estimates that the repair could be complete by 11.30am and 12.30pm.

Around 30 households are estimated to be affected by the postcode power cut.
