An elderly man has died after falling from a bridge onto a major road in Romford.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed this afternoon (February 6) that road closures are in place on the A12 at Pettits Lane in Romford after the man, believed to be in his 70s, fell from a height at around 11.45am.

Despite the efforts of the London Ambulance Service, including London's Air Ambulance, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have informed his next of kin and the death is not being treated as suspicious.
