A woman has been injured after a crash between a lorry and a car on the M25.

Essex Police were called to the motorway between the junctions at Brentwood and with the M11 shortly before 7am this morning (February 5).

A woman, who was in the car at the time of the crash, sustained back injuries in the incident.

Two lanes of the motorway were shut in the clockwise direction.

The road re-opened at around 9am this morning, but motorists have been urged to avoid the area if possible due to residual delays.

National Highways reported that there was a five mile traffic jam after the crash, causing delays of 45 minutes above normal journey times.

A picture released by the agency appeared to show at least two fire engines at the scene.

Police have released an appeal for information about the incident, asking for dashcam footage or CCTV.
