A probe has been launched after some residents claimed seeing a man “running around” with a hammer in Harold Hill.

Met Police were called to Halesworth Close at 8.21pm on Sunday (November 19) to reports of a man armed with the hammer.

Officers attended the location.

A spokesperson for the force said no arrests have been made so far and enquiries are ongoing.

Natalie Kovecses of Harold Hill alleged that the man came over a garden behind her through the side gate.

She said: “Our doorbell went off, had a look and it was some guy acting shifty running from our back gate.

“Mitch (her partner) chased him and he (the man) pulled out a hammer.”

They called the police and filed a report, she added.
