From a recently re-opened landmark, a space to enjoy productions to a museum celebrating a proud history, there are many places to visit in Havering.

We asked our readers to nominate their favourite places to go in the borough and complied the most popular and discussed choices.

1. Upminster Windmill

 Upminster Windmill in St Mary's Lane re-opened on May 27.

It was the subject of ongoing works, stretching back as far as 1938 when Hornchurch Urban District Council appealed for funds to maintain and repair it, according to Havering Libraries.

A brand new visitor centre is also part of the offering.

2. Brookside Theatre

"Nothing like a night of entertainment and culture at the Brookside Theatre," a contributor wrote in.

The performing arts venue is run by a non-profit organisation, according to the theatre's website.

In November, the Romford venue is showing a performance of School of Rock and The Neil Diamond Story, featuring classic hits.

3. Bedfords Park

Bedfords Park has been described as "tranquil and beautiful" by a reader.

The Havering-atte-Bower green space has a nature discover centre for people and families to explore in their leisure time.

A historic parkland of 215 acres, Bedfords was a popular choice among our readers.

4. The Hop Inn

Hornchurch's Hop Inn was named the best pub in London for a second year running in August 2022.

The North Street pub came top of the list compiled by the Campaign for Real Ale for 2022, following up on its 2021 success.

5. RAF Hornchurch Heritage Centre

The Hornchurch Aerodrome Historical Trust, which has preserved the centre, was mentioned by numerous readers.

Grant Warren, a reader, praised the heritage centre where Spitfire planes have been a frequent sight.

"It's a gem of a museum," he added.
