A man has been charged with committing dangerous drink and driving offences on a major road.

Essex Police said today (October 10) that they received a report of a car driving dangerously on the A12 while on patrol in Brentwood.

The vehicle was stopped in the road and two occupants were arrested, Essex Police said.

He will next appear at Southend Magistrates Court on October 23.

She has since been released with no further action.

Essex Police's roads policing unit made the arrests.

Between January 1 and August 31 this year, 1,701 motorists were stopped on suspicion of drug driving, drink driving and failing to provide a specimen, according to Essex Police.
