New homes will be built on the site of a former period building if planning permission is granted.

Hare Lodge, in Upper Brentwood Road, Gidea Park, was demolished in 2018 and will have eight homes built on its site if plans are granted by Havering Council.

Campaigners had fought for ten years to save the former period building from the wrecking ball, before it was finally torn down by developers in Feburary 2018.

Developer Haverbridge Homes submitted the original application to demolish Hare Lodge in May 2018, which was initially denied, but granted following an appeal.

Havering Council received the recent application from the same applicant, P1396.23, on September 12 this year and validated it a day later (September 13).

The plans are for four one-bedroom apartments and four two-bedroom apartments, each with amenity space, parking, cycle storage and bin stores.

A decision date has been set to November 11, 2023.
