An east London officer has been charged with police computer misuse offences.

PC Mohammed Sardar, 31, attached to the East Area Basic Command Unit which covers Havering, Barking and Dagenham and Redbridge, was charged on August 23.

Five charges have been brought against Mr Sardar, who is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court today (September 22).

He has been charged under the Computer Misuse Act of 1990 for the alleged unauthorised access of information on police computer systems between 2018 and 2021.

The Metropolitan Police's Anti-Corruption and Abuse Command carried out the investigation under the direction of the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

PC Sardar remains suspended from duty, Met Police confirmed.
