A person has died after a crash on a major east London road.

London Ambulance Service (LAS) was called yesterday (September 14) at 5.18pm to reports of a collision involving a motorcyclist in Aspen Way, Poplar.

The A13 Aspen Way Flyover was reportedly closed in both directions following the collision.

Despite the efforts of its crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene, a LAS spokesperson confirmed today (September 15).

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an incident response officer, two ambulance crews, and members of our Hazardous Area Response Team.

"We also dispatched a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance," the spokesperson added.

Met Police confirmed it was a fatal incident.

The road closure was due to a collision at the end of the flyover at Cotton Street/ Prestons Road, just past Billingsgate Market, according to BBC Radio London Travel.

Queues were reported on the A13 from Canning Town at 5.55pm yesterday.
