A woman was arrested on suspicion of trespassing in connection with an incident that led to the closure of Hornchurch station.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers were called to the station's District Line at around 1pm yesterday (28 August) after reports of a woman found on tracks.

They attended and arrested her on suspicion of trespass.

A spokesperson for BTP said that the woman was later issued a community resolution.

The station was closed briefly, Transport for London (TfL) tweeted, while police dealt with the "customer incident".

Tweet the Tube shared that there were “severe delays” between Upminster and Ealing Broadway/Richmond/Kensington (Olympia) yesterday as a result.

Tickets were said to be accepted on London buses, South Western Railway, Elizabeth Line and c2c trains.

TfL Access tweeted that Hornchurch station re-opened at around 1.30pm following the incident.
