A supermarket chain is “looking into concerns” after a mum received a delivery of five months out-of-date baby milk from a Romford store.

Danielle Cross said she got the delivery of six bottles of Cow and Gate milk from the Co-op in Rose Lane on Tuesday (July 18) and found that their best before date was in March.

She took to social media to alert people about checking expiry dates of products purchased from the said store.

Danielle claimed to this paper she had to wait for more than 72 hours for a call back from the Co-op.

When she did manage to get through to the head office, she said, she was offered a refund of £6.

She added: “It's not about the money, this is about safety.”

A Co-op spokesperson said: “We are very sorry to hear this. Co-op sets very high quality and customer service standards and works closely with its franchise partners to ensure those same high standards are delivered.

“We are looking into the concerns raised immediately.”

They added that the Rose Lane store is not directly operated by it but is a franchise.
