Anjem Choudary has been charged with three terrorism offences by police.

The 56-year-old from east London was arrested last week and charged yesterday (July 23) with three terrorism offences.

He has been charged with directing a terrorist organisation, membership of a proscribed organisation and addressing meetings to encourage support of a proscribed organisation.

A 28-year-old man from Canada was also charged today (July 24) with membership of a proscribed organisation.

He was arrested last week at Heathrow Airport after he arrived in the UK on a flight.

Both men have been remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later today (July 24).
