Ilford driver caused bus crash while performing U-turn

A driver who caused a crash in Lewisham while carrying out a U-turn has been fined £166. 

Muhammad Shanbaz Ghulam, of Aldborough Road South in Ilford, appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court after he pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention. 

On October 31, 2022, the 59-year-old was driving a Toyota Auris on Lewisham High Street when he attempted to make a U-turn.

He failed to see a bus in the opposite lane, resulting in a two-vehicle collision. 

Ghulam was taken to hospital by ambulance due to injuries he sustained in the crash. 

On Thursday, July 13, Ghulam was given a £166 fine and ordered to pay £110. 

He was also given 5 points on his driving record.
