Investigators are calling for witnesses to come forward with information following a plane crash in Upminster earlier this month.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) launched a probe after a man suffered serious injuries when a lightweight aircraft crash landed near Damyns Hall Aerodrome around noon on Tuesday (April 4).

The aircraft had reportedly flown over Aveley Road before crashing.

The AAIB has issued an appeal for drivers on the road around the time to submit dashcam footage to help them piece the incident together.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters worked for about an hour to free the man and a woman who were trapped inside the plane.

They were taken to hospital shortly after.

Police previously said the man's injuries are "potentially life-changing or life-threatening", while the woman suffered minor injuries.

London Ambulance Service deployed several resources to the location, with London Air Ambulance also attending.

Witnesses with information or footage are asked to contact the AAIB during office hours on 01252 510300 or enquiries@aaib.gov.uk.   All contact will be treated in the strictest confidence, the AAIB has said.
