A man has been sentenced in court after he stole more than £1,000 worth of meat from Marks and Spencer in Romford.

Kai Bucknor, of Purcell Road in Witham, stole £635 of meat on April 1 before returning five days later to steal another £410 of meat.

The 29-year-old appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on April 8 where he pleaded guilty to theft.

A judge handed him a twelve week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.

This means he will not be sent to prison unless he commits another offence in the next year.

Bucknor was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £154 to fund victim services.

His guilty plea was taken into account when the judge imposed the sentence.
