My bestie and I headed to The Ivy in Wimbledon Village to try and taste the all new ‘Dream Champagne Dinner’.

The new menu, which launched on the day of our visit, is available every Friday from 6.30pm and offers a dreamy, champagne dinner to the end of the week.

Diners can choose two courses for £45.00, or three courses for £50.00, with both options including half a bottle of the finest French Champagne each.

We arrived at the beloved café at 7.30pm and were welcomed into a buzzy, friendly atmosphere filled with sophisticated diners.

Romford Recorder:

As we waited for our table to be ready, my friend and I sat at the bar and enjoyed a Pornstar Martini Cocktail as we read the food options for the evening.

I couldn’t help but notice the relaxed energy in the room; everyone seemed to be lost in their own conversations as they were tucking into their dinner.

The Dream Champagne Dinner is based off a set menu with options ranging from prawns, aubergine, duck, steaks, profiteroles and of course, champagne.

For our starters, my friend and I chose the Duck and Asparagus Vol-Au-Vent, served with broad beans and wholegrain mustard sauce.

Romford Recorder:

This was my favourite choice of the evening; the duck was so tender, and the puff pastry had a gorgeous light and fluffy texture.

For the main event, we both ordered a Chargrilled Sirloin Steak with a flambéed brandy and truffle sauce.

Romford Recorder:

The sauce was an acquired taste, as you could really taste the alcohol flowing through the sauce – but it was enjoyable and nice to try something a little out of the ordinary.

And of course, my medium rare steak was superb.

Visiting The Ivy is a special treat and can be more on the expensive side, but the Dream Champagne Dinner offers a relatively cheaper choice.

Guests can finish off the Dream Champagne Dinner with either the Dream Dessert, Ice Cream Profiteroles, or a zingy Lemon Sorbet, served with shortbread, lemon balm and Champagne.

As a lemon fanatic, I chose the sorbet, but I must admit, the Dream Dessert was the star of the show – I almost had food envy of my friend as she chose this option.

Romford Recorder:

As expected, the service inside The Ivy was exceptional from start to finish – each waiter was attentive and kind and made everyone feel as comfortable as possible.

The champagne was flowing throughout our visit and by the time our evening came to an end I was feeling a little merry.

The Ivy at Wimbledon Village is a luxurious haven for restaurant lovers and the new Dream Champagne Dinner is worth every penny.
