A central Romford pub remains on the market but will stay open unless it is sold, owner Wetherspoon has said.

The World’s Inn in South Street is one of 35 pubs the chain currently has up for sale across the UK.

Close to several other similar establishments, including another Wetherspoon pub, The Moon and Stars, The World’s Inn is described in Savills' online listing as “part of the established late-night pitch in Romford”.

Wetherspoon spokesperson Eddie Gershon said: “The World’s Inn is still on the market.

“It continues to trade as a Wetherspoon pub until/unless it is sold.

“Wetherspoon does, on occasion, put some of its pubs up for sale.”

In November, the chain reported its sales had fallen by 1.1 per cent compared to trading prior to the Covid pandemic.

This followed the initial decision last September to put some of its pubs up for sale after reports of rising staff wages and essential repairs.

According to Savills, the current rent for The World’s Inn is £120,000 a year, held on a lease expiring in December 2030.
