A Hornchurch theatre’s fresh take on a classic panto tale has been nominated as one of the capital’s best festive shows.

Queen’s Theatre’s Sleeping Beauty is up for the award after receiving the nod from The Offies (Off West End Theatre Awards), an annual competition recognising the best in London’s independent theatres.

Finalists for the awards will be announced in January, with the winner to be revealed at a ceremony at Alexandra Palace Theatre on February 12.

Queen’s Theatre’s version of Sleeping Beauty takes its audience from Tudor times to 2057, as an evil fairy casts a wicked curse on Princess Raury, leaving her to bravely tackle a brand-new world.

The stellar cast includes Ben Barrow (Footloose) as Proppa and Anna Fordham (Sunshine on Leith) as Princess Laury, and is written by Andrew Pollard.
