Everyone Active Raiders have announced the signing of Canadian import Alex Roberts.

The 28-year-old was released by National League rivals Bristol earlier this month, having scored 17 points in 17 matches for the top-flight newcomers.

The native of British Columbia had tallied 83 points (47 goals, 36 assists) in 54 league and play-off matches for Basingstoke Bison last season and will make his Raiders debut as they visit table-topping Leeds tonight (November 26).

A statement posted on the Raiders Twitter page said: "We are delighted to announce that we have signed forward Alex Roberts, having been advised that Adam Laishram was unable to commit fully to the busy schedule.

"We thank Adam for his contributions so far and welcome Alex into the team for today's trip to Leeds."

Former MK Lightning forward Laishram has scored 19 points in 10 games for Raiders this season alongside his university studies in London, first coming into the side when fellow countryman Ryan Shaw returned to Canada to take up a job offer in the police force.

Laishram, 25, has also deputised for 36-year-old Slovakian forward Erik Piatak, who has been sidelined since late October due to injury having taken his Raiders career points tally to 149 (57 goals, 92 assists) in 113 games.

Roberts will now line up alongside 25-year-old Winnipeg-born Matthieu Gomercic, who currently tops the Raiders scoring charts with 30 points (11 goals, 19 assists) in 16 appearances.

Raiders, who have won six of their last eight matches, entertain Swindon Wildcats at Romford's Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre on Sunday (5.15pm).
