A Metropolitan Police officer has been charged following an alleged assault on a 14-year-old child.
PC Paul Bewsey, who is attached to the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, was charged with common assault by postal requisition on October 1 after an investigation by Essex Police.
The off-duty incident occurred in Hanging Hill Lane, Brentwood, on April 21 this year.
PC Bewsey will appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (November 24).
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed and the officer is on restricted duties.
