Two Havering restaurants have walked away with major gongs from this year’s Good Food Awards.

Tandoori Lounge in High Street, Hornchurch, run by husband-and-wife team Sukh Uppal, 43, and Honey Uppal, 41, once again picked up the Good Food Award’s Gold Seal, meaning they have now won the top prize every year since 2020.

The most coveted of the awards, the Gold Seal is only given to those that achieve consistently high customer ratings and votes over three years or more.

It is another to add to the range of national awards Tandoori Lounge has won over the past few years, including best restaurant in the south east of England at the Asian Restaurant Awards 2021

The pair said: “Tandoori Lounge is honoured to have won this award a fourth time in a row showing our consistency in our hard work since we opened in 2017.

“Tandoori Lounge is the only restaurant in Hornchurch to have won this award in its category. We pride ourselves in our unique Punjabi cuisine, which our customers come back to enjoy time again.

“We are extremely proud that our homely cuisine is enjoyed by our customers near and far.”

The Good Food Awards have been running since 2002. This year, organisers say the competition had a record number of entrants and votes cast.

“It was heart-warming to see the support our winners received,” they added.
