Boxer Frank Bruno came to the reopening of a Collier Row pub after its six-figure revamp.

The Aspen Tree, which has had a full interior and exterior refurbishment, treated locals to a Tina Turner tribute act, plus the attendance of Mr Bruno, at its launch event on October 14.

A planning application to enhance its outdoor experience was approved earlier this year, with the new heated pergola and increased capacity now installed.

Its interior has also been reimagined, including changes made to its dining area, bar and toilets.

A statement from the pub’s owner, Greene King, described it as a "modernised, contemporary look with pastel blue and green tones throughout”.

Other additions include a new drinks menu, three large TVs in its sports bar, and weekly live entertainment on Saturday nights, plus other regular events.

Mr Bruno said: “There’s nothing better than a night at your local pub, and I was thrilled to be invited to celebrate the reopening of The Aspen Tree.

“The new pub looks fantastic, and I know the community will enjoy the food, drink, and of course the sport, over upcoming months.”

Remmini Clayton, general manager of The Aspen Tree, said: “We’re so happy to be welcoming back our regulars, and we had a great time celebrating our new look over the weekend with the legendary Frank Bruno.

“From a Tina Turner tribute act on our reopening night to a children’s face painting day on Sunday, and not forgetting our special guest, it was great to be hosting the local community once again.”
