POLICE received a special award from firms in recognition of their work with small businesses.
Essex Police received the award from the Essex Federation of Small Businesses (Essex FSB) to recognise initiatives to support and help business.
They included working with business community safety partnerships including a campaign against anti-social behaviour on industrial estates across Basildon, working with retailers in Brentwood to combat forged bank notes and developing new CCTV in Epping.
Assistant chief constable Peter Lowton said police remain committed to supporting the area’s businesses and treating crime against business seriously, adding: “We know that crimes against businesses are not victimless and our neighbourhood policing teams are tasked with making sure they are in contact with their local business community.”
Police also paid 70 per cent of invoices in ten working day and held an annual Businesses Against Crime Forum with Essex FSB.
David Miles, Essex FSB Business Support spokesman said: “There was considerable discussion about the work Essex Police has been doing with the small business community it was decided to make a special award to recognise that work.”
