A HORNCHURCH man will be appearing on a new television cookery show next week.
Ryan Philpot, 30, a senior financial analyst, will be appearing on the new Channel 4 show Cookery School from Monday.
The show will offer expert advice on home cooking. The presenters, Michelin-star chef and restaurateur Richard Corrigan and food writer Gizzi Erskine, will provide skills and techniques to viewers.
Also, students with different abilities will compete against each other to be able to remain in the school and learn more.
Mr Philpot, of Norman Road, will be cooking big, hearty and rustic food in an attempt to keep his place on the show.
He said: “I saw an advert online for Cookery School and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to learn new skills and build on my repertoire.”
He said he has learnt about presentation, organisation and flavour since doing the show.
He added: “It wasn’t easy and the pressure was on from the outset. We had to be on form, learn the skills and different techniques very quickly so that we could produce the best dish possible.
“When I entered Cookery School you could say my food was quite rustic and hearty. I loved to cook traditional British dishes like braised Lamb Shanks.
“Whilst I still cook these dishes I take a lot more time over presentation and understand the importance of sourcing good quality local produce.”
