A Romford man has been charged with stealing more than �7,000 worth of British Telecom cable.
The 19-year-old is accused of the theft of 730 metres of cable after an incident in Tollesbury on Monday, April 18.
He has been bailed to appear at Chelmsford Magistrate’s Court on May 13.
Police were called to Tollesbury Road shortly before midnight on Monday April 18, 2011, following reports that telephone cables were being tampered with.
Three men were later arrested.
Two men – a 29-year-old from Loughton and a 23-year-old from Romford – were released without charge.
