A Brentwood councillor was left looking blue after a charity haircutting challenge last week.
Cllr William Lloyd (Conservative, Warley) took on Cllr Mike Le-Surf (Labour, Brentwood South) to create the perfect bob at the Sugar Hut on Tuesday of last week.
The councillors, who had been trained by professional stylists Cllr Nigel Clarke (Lib Dem, Brentwood West) and Cllr Will Russell (Conservative, Brentwood West) respectively – attempted to snip their way to victory on two brave volunteers.
The loser had to dye his hair the colour of the opposition party.
Cllr Lloyd was judged the winner, and Cllr Le-Surf duly had his hair sprayed blue.
He said: “It returned to its normal colour the next day, I’m going to the Labour Party conference later this week and I wouldn’t be allowed in with blue hair.”
Cllr Lloyd said: “I don’t think I’ll be taking up hairdressing as a full time job, I’d be sacked far too quickly.”
The event raised around 1,500 for the mayor’s charities St Francis Hospice and Recoil Trampolining, which was boosted up to 2,000 by the Sugar Hut.
