Draw with Dockers is ‘just deserved’

Paul Martin declared himself happy with a point after Romford’s 1-1 draw with Ryman One North rivals Tilbury.

Boro extended their unbeaten run to six games after the Mill Field stalemate and reached Christmas with 29 points under their belts.

Martin said: “Both teams were happy at the end,” he added.

“The first half was very dull, both teams cancelled each other out. But the second half it came alive and was end-to-end.

“They had a chance to win it late on with a point-blank header which was straight at Lamar (Joseph-Johnson), but we had a chance at the death and I felt we could’ve had a penalty.

“We’ve not got any complaints. It’s another point and the boys are defending well.

“We’ve taken points off the teams in fourth and fifth place when maybe the supporters didn’t expect much from them.”

Boro visit high-flying Grays on Boxing Day, before a trip to FA Cup heroes Redbridge on December 31.

But Martin will not be in the dug-out as he serves a two-match touchline ban following his sending-off in the 2-0 win over Heybridge.
