Roads have now re-opened in Upminster, after bomb disposal experts made safe an unexploded World War Two shell, dug up by workmen at a school.
Sacred Heart of Mary Girls’ School, in St Mary’s Lane, was evacuated and the road was closed between Corbets Tey Road and Hacton Lane, at around 12.45pm today (Friday March 16).
Police, ambulances, and fire crews were sent to the scene.
Traffic began moving again at 2pm.
