Urchins close gap on leaders
Another two goals from Martin Tuohy helped Hornchurch to Ryman Premier Division success against Margate last night.
Leading scorer Tuohy headed home on 11 minutes, after stand-in captain Frankie Curley had nodded Joe Anderson’s cross on.
And Tuohy sealed a second successive 3-0 win 12 minutes from time, stabbing home when Fola Orilonishe’s shot was saved by Simon Overlands for his 27th goal of the season.
Strike partner Lewis Smith netted inbetween times, collecting a fine pass from Orilonishe and cutting inside to fire past Overlands for his 19th of the campaign.
And victory allowed Jimmy McFarlane’s men to close the gap on leaders Billericay to four points, with six games remaining.
Urchins entertain Met Police on Saturday, while Billericay visit Kingstonian.
And Hornchurch then travel to Tooting on Good Friday, before hosting Billericay in a potential title decider on Bank Holiday Monday.
