A dedicated Help for Heroes supporter from Romford is hoping her generous gift could provide comfort to a child who’s lost a family member.

Sue Connelly showed up at the charity’s headquarters in Downton, Wiltshire, this week with a giant four foot teddy bear, Sue hopes the charity can do something good with the toy, and did have one very moving suggestion: “We thought it would be nice to donate a big cuddly bear, for someone who’s perhaps lost a member of their family, especially if they’ve got children. I thought it could act as a comfort for them.”

Sue, who has family in the military, has been supporting the good cause since it started back in 2007.

She has so far made around 23,000 for the cause, and said: “I put on three events this year, one on Armed Forces Day, selling goods and merchandise. The first year we did something it raised around 10,000 pounds which was brilliant.”

The grandmother is full of praise for Help for Heroes and the support it gives to wounded service personnel, and has already started planning what she will do next year.
