Walkers stepped out to enjoy the Essex countryside and raise vital funds for patient care provided by a Havering hospice.
Around 60 walkers took part in Hornchurch and Upminster Rotary Club’s 18th sponsored walk for St Francis Hospice on Sunday - raising 4,000.
Havering Deputy Mayor Cllr Eric Munday set walkers on their way for the eight mile stroll from Corner Farm, North Ockendon.
Walkers passed through cornfields and could see views of St Nicholas Church, with its 13th century round tower, and then followed the picturesque man-made Mardyke which dates back to Saxon times, to North Stifford before returning to the farm.
Rotarian Richard Palmer said: “The weather was fine and sunny and the walkers certainly enjoyed the day.”
Charity hero Paul Freedman MBE, raised 600, and local companies including Roomes and Gates Parish also donated generously towards the event.
If you missed this, join the hospice’s second Wags and Tails dog walk on September 16 at Ingatestone Hall.
