Family doctors answered questions about plans for St George’s Hospital at a public meeting.
GPs were grilled on proposals for a centre for older people’s care at the Sutton Lane site at the meeting at Hornchurch Library on Wednesday last week.
Proposals include a new health centre, GP practice and on-site assessment centre.
Dr Gurdev Saini, from Havering Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said it was encouraging to hear from so many people.
He said: “Our vision for the NHS locally is for people to get the health and social care they need in one place as easily and conveniently as possible, closer to home rather than in a hospital. There were some robust views – as we expected – and we welcome them all as we are determined to get this health facility right.” The consultation ends Sunday.
