Plans to build a new library in Harold Hill moved a step closer this week after the planning application documents were submittted.
The proposals, which are part of the Harold Hill Ambitions programme, are now due to go to the Regulatory Services Committee on Monday September 9.
The new library is set to be based in the eastern arcade of the Hilldene shopping centre, off Farnham Road.
It will be significantly bigger than the existing 1950s building and will offer improved facilities.
In April and May, a public consultation was held and as a result, the design of the front of the building was changed to look more inviting.
Plans were also changed to allow scope for an additional, intermediate level within the building if required in the future.
On July 10, Havering Council’s cabient gave the go ahead for the planning application to be submitted.
