Navestock boxer Martin Ward, whose alleged attempted murder left him in hospital in August, is to return to the ring with a fight at the ExCeL next month.

Martin and his brother John were the victims in a shooting that took place on a travellers’ site at Lizvale Farm, off Goatswood Road. Martin was shot in the chest.

But on Monday the 22-year-old tweeted a picture of himself training with partner Kevin Mitchell, alongside the message: “Good 6 rounds sparring with @KevinMitchell6 done today!”

Glazier Francis O’Donoghue, 27, of Wood Green, Haringey, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder over the incident. He will appear at Basildon Crown Court on December 30.
