Heroes were applauded and baddies booed as wrestlemania came to Rainham on Sunday, giving the world of WWE a run for its money.

More than 180 people watched the Rainham Championship Wrestling Alliance’s (RCWA) event unfold at the Rainham Methodist Hall, Wennington Road, Rainham, as Team Sanders heroes were pitted against bad guys Team Weston.

RCWA’s chief executive, Lauren Sanders said the fight was the build-up to the one year anniversary when Sam Weston won the company in an all or nothing match in November, last year.

“I’ve gone from owner to general skivvy,” said Lauren.

“Bills are not being paid things that should be handled are not being processed properly.

“But I am trying to secretly get the company back.”

So goes the popular storyline which has reignited passion for the sport, previously seen in the days of Big Daddy and Giant Haystack.

RCWA was born in a garden in Farm Road, Rainham, and was the brainchild of Will Ospreay, 23, who earlier this year, signed to the second largest wrestling company in world, New Japan.

Sunday’s event had children and adults thoroughly entertained from start to finish and a plan for a “final showdown” in the saga is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 10, at Chafford Sports Complex, Lambs Lane South, Rainham.
