Romford’s Nick Reynolds felt their battling 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Norwich United was ‘typical Boro’.
Trailing to an early penalty, the visitors looked like making the long journey back to Essex empty-handed, until all-time record goalscorer Reynolds saw a shot spilled and James Ishmail pounced to net a last-minute equaliser.
The result was even more remarkable, given the fact Boro could only name three substitutes and two of them were manager Paul Martin and assistant Mark Lord.
Reynolds said: “I think it just sums up Romford Football Club and what it’s about. It’s everyone from every angle chipping in to keep the club alive.
“How many teams will ever be able to say they went to a game with 12 men, were 1-0 down when their gaffer comes on in the 87th minute and they manage to score a last minute equaliser.
“It felt like a victory because they never really scored, they we given a penalty that caused a stunned silence around the ground.”
Reynolds is currently fourth on the club’s appearance list with 244, having played nine times so far this season.
Stuart Horne (246) and Danny Benstock (253) are in his sights, with Paul Clayton way out in front on 396, and although unable to add to his 68 goals yet this season, he was pleased to pick up an assist on Ishmail’s vital goal, with a bit of help from boss Martin.
He added; “The gaffer has done alright. He put himself about, got stuck in and gave me a decent shout in he build-up to our goal.
“I was just disappointed ‘Lordy’ didn’t get a run out as well. He talks a good game but I’ve not seen that famous left foot in action for a few years now!”
